Why I'm standing
I bring experience and passion. I served as an Auckland City Councillor for nine years, including chair of its Planning Committee, and am a current local board member, leading in local economic development. I listen and know how to get things done and can call council-controlled organisations to account in the complex system of Auckland's local government. While much has been achieved, I believe there is still more to be done in this area I love.
About me
I am a careful listener and belong to community groups within Waitematā. In addition, I have extensive governance experience in a wider range of organisations, including the NZ Dental Council, Unitec Council and the Auckland Business Development Council. I'm a member of the Ponsonby Business Association and Local Board liaison for the Parnell Village Square Trust. As a former senior Auckland University of Technology lecturer for 15 years, I can evaluate complex information.
My priorities
- A sustainable environment/low carbon future. I will support measures to address climate change.
- Greater opportunities for access to the arts, events, sport and recreation.
- Transport choice, public and active transport options are the key to solving congestion.
