Why I'm standing

For me, Waitematā is one of the most vibrant and diverse communities in Aotearoa. I am passionate about making it an even better place in which to live and work. I want to support and enhance a broader range of transport options, expand its green spaces. protect its magnificent harbour, and make its city centre safer. I am also absolutely committed to advocating for the needs and rights of inner-city residents in urban planning decisions.

About me

I am a longstanding Waitematā resident and currently enjoy living in an apartment in Freemans Bay. As a University of Auckland Professor of Education, I have had an extensive engagement with local schools. I was on the Board of Trustees of Western Springs College for six years during the time of its major rebuild and have been involved with Richmond Road School for decades. I am committed to equity and inclusion for all Waitematā residents.

My priorities
  1. Support residents and businesses in a climate action plan to halve carbon emissions in the next decade.
  2. Working with mana whenua and community groups to protect the environment in our city and its harbour.
  3. Advocating for inner city residents, who are too often ignored in urban planning and decision-making.
