Why I'm standing
I believe that what all the people of this city need and deserve is opportunity, not poverty; security, not fear; fulfilment, not limited lives; happiness, not torment; a future without climate catastrophe or violence; and that elected people really can help these get better.
About me
I have a great deal of experience in good governance as an MP, an Auckland councillor and now Chair of the Waitematā Local Board. I have chaired organisations campaigning for justice and human rights: the Homosexual Law Reform Society, the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament and the Citizens Association for Racial Equality. I am actively involved on the board of local organisations: Asian Family Services, the Community Housing Trust and Ponsonby Community Committee.
My priorities
- Advocating for the provision of decent, accessible, secure, affordable homes for all.
- Support and grow effective council and community awareness and action on climate change.
- Helping build a diverse yet inclusive, safe and engaged Waitematā Community.
