Mayor of Auckland

The Auckland Mayor leads the governing body of Auckland Council. The mayor’s job is to promote a vision for Auckland and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Auckland Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

I put my hand up to do the job of mayor as I wanted to make a change from the inside. I believe council's core function is to be a service provider, and unfortunately, it is not up to scratch. I want to change that and make Auckland a prime livable city again by having it operate effectively.

About me

My skill sets are in the analysis of problems, and communication. Both of these are desperately required traits as Auckland needs a lot of repairs, and people need better comms. I've always fought for the little guy, the underdog, and that's what I bring. I will represent the people and give them a voice while helping to solve their problems.

My priorities
  1. Change the contractor system to provide a more efficient, fiscally responsible operation.
  2. Revamp the local boards. They're the conduit between the people and council and should be empowered.
  3. Complete a full audit of all departments and operations. This includes the CCOs.
