Mayor of Auckland

The Auckland Mayor leads the governing body of Auckland Council. The mayor’s job is to promote a vision for Auckland and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Auckland Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

We are not serious enough about the climate catastrophes we are facing. We need to plan now for a future of fire and flood. I am the only mayor thinking 100 years ahead and not just the end of an election cycle. I worry for our children's futures. Let's make Auckland the nicest place to watch the end of the world.

About me

I am a community organiser and activist. I have been homeless and a renter. I'm a parent. I have experience standing up to power in protest, forums and legal settings. With a position of power I know that I must listen to the people, and push for change not only within council, but also using the position to advocate nationally and internationally.

My priorities
  1. Make housing a right in Auckland.
  2. Create a plan for climate change mitigation, resilience and restoration projects.
  3. Create a strategy for public transport expansion including making it free for Auckland residents.
