Mayor of Auckland

The Auckland Mayor leads the governing body of Auckland Council. The mayor’s job is to promote a vision for Auckland and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Auckland Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

This is the place that I can do the most good. Auckland is in severe problems due to covid but more due to incompetence management. I can revive and rebuild Auckland to make it better than it was.

About me

I have the skills – 30-year criminal lawyer, qualifications – BSc BA LLB, and experience in organisations – various NZ and overseas Law society councils etc. Previous Ōtara Community Board. I grew up in Ōtara and have lived in Auckland for over 60 years. I care about the welfare of our people and our city.

My priorities
  1. Fix up and clean up the incompetence and wastage of council. Get the council-controlled organisations under control.
  2. Get Auckland moving again, finish our rail system, rebuild the CBD and help businesses grow.
  3. Deal with the social problems. Housing, poverty, homelessness, youth issues and crime and safety.
