Why I'm standing
I am standing as an advocate for a marginalised community that no other politician or political party takes seriously. I am referring to the 150 million land animals and 600 million sea creatures living in misery and/or killed in agony in New Zealand every year.
About me
As a research scientist in the area of environmental and public health I can bring a critical scientific mind to the position. Nobody expects a mayor to be expert in everything, but they should have sufficient ability to know which advice to trust, what is evidence-based, and what is spin. I deplore the ugly name-calling in this campaign. If elected I will work together to exchange ideas and gain consensus.
My priorities
- Reduce the numbers, severity and duration of animal suffering.
- Establish a low-emissions plant-based lifestyle within council and the wider region.
- Establish greater income equality.
