Mayor of Auckland

The Auckland Mayor leads the governing body of Auckland Council. The mayor’s job is to promote a vision for Auckland and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Auckland Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

I love Auckland – but there are aspects of our city that we all find frustrating, so I'm stepping in because it's time for change. I've been working at the local board level for the last three years. In that time, I've seen the inner workings, and behind the scenes of how council operates. I'm also out in the community every day, learning what our people love, and also hearing how our people are struggling.

About me

I'm a business owner, a local board Chairman, still an active North Harbour Rugby referee for 28 years, currently president of Noth Harbour Referee association. Involved with the Silverdale Rugby Club since 1970. A centurion for over 100 games played for Silverdale premier team. Currently on No5 Squadron Air Cadets committee. Former New Zealand champion in Surf Life-Saving. I'm the founder of the "NZ Walk of Fame" on the Orewa Boulevard.

My priorities
  1. Ensure council-controlled organisations collaborate on projects to ensure cost savings a priority.
  2. Reduce the amount of raised pedestrian crossings on extremely busy roads which causes more problems.
  3. Improve roading maintenance with material that actually last longer and don't increase potholes.
Current role
