Refreshing Local Democracy

Why I'm standing

We need sturdy leadership to get us through the current waves of local government reform. I'm a strong voice against the erosion of our local democracy and centralised control. Let's negotiate a better Three Waters funding deal, and keep local assets in local hands. The time is right for me to give back to the community of Upper Hutt.

About me

Upper Hutt resident for 20 years with a heart for our city, I will bring fresh energy and creative thinking to council. I am particularly strong in engaging with others to deliver practical outcomes. I have led collaborative initiatives with community, iwi, government and industry stakeholders. I welcome the opportunity to serve you, at a time that my management experience in government and strategic decision making is vital given the challenges we are now facing.

My priorities
  1. Refreshing local democracy is vital as central government overwhelms local government with reform.
  2. Affordable rates with a focus on core infrastructure and ratepayers know how their money is spent.
  3. Families and businesses have a voice in decision making and are empowered to thrive.
