Why I'm standing

I am standing for Whanganui district council because we need Māori representation within our district table and decision-making processes especially when Te Awa Tupua is involved. Also I am standing because our council needs Whanganui uri to be working with council to ensure that our tamariki (children) and mokokōpuna (grandchildren) are thriving and successful in what ever they aspire to achieve. Furthermore, I am standing to inspire all Māori to stand for council and government.

About me

I have four years of governance experience with Te Kōhanga reo o Parikino (Parikino early learning nest). During my time at Parikino I held numerous executive committee positions such as co-treasurer, secretary, payroll authoriser, and bank authoriser. At times during covid lockdowns, I have had to facilitate and chair our online hui. I am studying my third year of my bachelor in bicultural social work. I aspire to continue with my masters and PhD.

My priorities
  1. Homeless night shelter with basic facilities 24/7 to access showers and kitchen facilities.
  2. Te Awa Tupua Act (2017) and Tupua te kawa to guide all Whanganui district council processes.
  3. Localised community-led decision-making, power and control of council assets stays local.
