Hutt City Council

Hutt City At Large
The Hutt City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 12 councillors and the mayor. This election is for the six councillors elected by all voters in the city. The other councillors will be elected to represent wards (areas in the city). This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

I want to see a collegial council that can listen better, debate issues and make sound decisions, without the rancour and political sniping that currently exists.

About me

I have many years local government experience from my time on the Petone community board and working and raising a family locally. My background is in vocational rehabilitation and my role as a JP brings me into contact with a diverse wide range of people I commit to be totally independent but can work with all.

My priorities
  1. Push for infrastructure renewal and maintenance.
  2. Review expenditure and rate increases. Promote and encourage business development and opportunities.
  3. Improve council communication and consultation.
