Hutt City Council

Hutt City At Large
The Hutt City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 12 councillors and the mayor. This election is for the six councillors elected by all voters in the city. The other councillors will be elected to represent wards (areas in the city). This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Hutt City Council election.

Why I'm standing

I believe that government should be "bottom up" – local council/government should be directed by the people. We have at the moment "top down" government where decisions are made by people who are unaccountable and don't understand or seem to care about the effects these have on peoples lives, their businesses, their employment or the communities that we all live in.

About me

I am an independent thinker, and don't see things in black and white terms. All people need to have their concerns listened to, including those I might disagree with. My decisions should be led by those I represent rather than any ideology or pre conceived ideas that I might have. I can listen to all sides of a debate, and use logic and common sense to come to a decision.

My priorities
  1. Three Waters – I believe Hutt residents overwhelmingly oppose, and I can see no good case for this.
  2. End wasteful spending – cost of living is out of control.
  3. Bring democracy back – as a representative I would be there to represent you.
