Dunedin City Council
The Dunedin City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 14 councillors and the mayor. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing
As a wheelchair user, I know firsthand the barriers disabled people face in Dunedin — from inaccessible infrastructure to voices being left out of decision-making. That's why I'm running for council: to ensure lived experience shapes real solutions. I want to build a city where everyone can participate fully, where transparency and accountability guide decisions, and where our most vulnerable are no longer an afterthought. Together, we can create a fairer, more inclusive Dunedin.
About me
I bring both lived experience and a proven record of community service. As a wheelchair user, advocate, volunteer, and parent, I understand the challenges many in Dunedin face. My PhD shows I have the perseverance and work ethic to tackle complex issues, while my grassroots involvement keeps me connected to real needs. I am committed to accessibility, accountability, and fairness — ensuring every voice in our community is heard.
My priorities
- Push for accessibility, inclusive facilities, safe infrastructure and access to information.
- Deliver a fair rubbish system that rewards waste reduction and supports larger households.
- Fix our neglected water system by clearing the backlog and ensuring safe, reliable water.
