Why I'm standing

Dunedin is the most beautiful small city in the world. And yes I am worried we’ve been let down; too much self interest on council, insufficient community interest and insufficient listening. Councillors often act like they know best. They don't and we need to involve community more. Big spending and high profile plans need peer review by community experts. A new council I’m part of would establish a needs-based hierarchy of city priorities.

About me

I listen and I question; no such thing as a dumb one. Journalism taught me that. I also understand how Dunedin people work hard. They deserve more say on how rates are spent. I am honest, forthright and strategic. I am a passionate advocate both in media and in governance roles I have held. Dunedin's built heritage has benefitted my strength. It’s time for me to step up to improve the city I love.

My priorities
  1. Stop wasteful spending and review Dunedin City Council spending with an eye to cutting unnecessary cost.
  2. Stop demolition by neglect immediately with penalties and notify all demolition applications.
  3. Pause Smooth Hill and prioritise an extended runway and international airport over this site.
