Dunedin City Council

The Dunedin City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 14 councillors and the mayor. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Dunedin City Council election.

Why I'm standing

We live in a representative democracy, but my friends and I don't feel represented by our current local council.

About me

I'm only 25 and want to spend the rest of my life in this city, so I very much care about what this place looks like 60, 70 years from now. I'm not doing this for a job, I'm doing this to bring better representation, governance and long term planning to my local council.

My priorities
  1. Move from a state of reacting to issues that are constantly popping up to a state of proactivity.
  2. Support a vibrant local cultural scene through music, arts, festivals and community groups.
  3. Fix Tunnel Beach track ASAP.
