Dunedin City Council

The Dunedin City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 14 councillors and the mayor. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Dunedin City Council election.

Why I'm standing

Having completed my first term, I now understand how things get done and would like to continue what I have started. Coming from a business, I struggled with how long things can take to get done and believe this is partly down to people accepting that it is the way it must be. I believe that if we continue to do things as we have in the past, we will continue to get the same results.

About me

I have spent my first term immersing myself in the responsibilities of a dedicated councillor while actively engaging with the community. My 20 years of business experience have been instrumental in guiding my decisions, alongside my commitment to financial, social and environmental sustainability. I believe we need to stand strong within the halls of Wellington. We need to back ourselves as a city because, if we don't, who will?

My priorities
  1. Continue to fight for the hospital to ensure the best result for the city and region.
  2. Support policies and initiatives that promote the city as a place to live, work and visit.
  3. Balance the city's need for investment with the responsibility of keeping spending as low as possible.
