Dunedin City Council

The Dunedin City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 14 councillors and the mayor. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Dunedin City Council election.

Why I'm standing

I want to make a positive contribution to the governance of our city. I have lived here for 30 years and I love the community feel Dunedin has. I would like to increase the diverse range of councillors at the table.

About me

I have worked as a secondary teacher for over 20 years and have been involved in many local community organisations. I value the diversity of my akonga and have learnt to appreciate the mana of the people I have met in these organisations. I think that I am passionate, a good communicator and motivated to effect change.

My priorities
  1. Increase the number of people using active transport in Otepoti.
  2. Ensure that everybody has access to a healthy home.
  3. Redistribute rates to fulfil our social contract as a counterbalance to our national government.
