Dunedin City Council

The Dunedin City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 14 councillors and the mayor. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

Dunedin enjoys a special natural and built environment with advantages that are the envy of others. In addition to providing quality services, the City Council has a responsibility to protect, promote and enhance those unique features, and to do so in a way that is affordable for all residents.

About me

Dunedin born and educated. Former Head of Languages and Outdoor Education, Bayfield High School. Dunedin City Councillor 1996–1999 and Cabinet Minister in the Clark Government. Current Chair of the Planning and Environment Committee and Hearings Committee, and represents the city on the New Hospital Advisory Group.

My priorities
  1. Implement a fully integrated Transportation Plan, including a fully electrified bus fleet.
  2. Maintain and protect our natural and built heritage.
  3. Continue to improve the attractiveness and safely of our public spaces, for all users.
