Dunedin City Council

The Dunedin City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 14 councillors and the mayor. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Dunedin City Council election.

Why I'm standing

I believe Dunedin was beautiful, but I am worried that it is losing its beauty. The work that is happening on George Street has made the place look shabby. No parking for cars. People are not happy. I feel so sorry for the businesses. It's time for a change in council and a new mayor.

About me

When living in Temuka, I worked for 10 years with intellectually handicapped, and before that 10 years working in rest homes. I had been the activities coordinator when working with IHC. I would organise events, eg dances, outings, and running residents to workshops. I am honest, reliable and hard working.

My priorities
  1. Push for dog registration to be reduced. People on fixed incomes cannot afford to pay.
  2. Hold the council accountable for decisions on spending. That is why we are in so much debt.
  3. Ensure E-scooter riders wear helmets as this is a safety issue.
