Dunedin City Council

The Dunedin City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 14 councillors and the mayor. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Dunedin City Council election.

Why I'm standing

I have become frustrated at what I perceive to be reckless spending, a disregard for the residents of Dunedin, abhorrent behaviour, and an almost complete lack of business acumen with the council. I believe that Dunedin and those that call it home, deserve better. Better from its leadership, better from the services it provides, and a better relationship between everybody that lives here and those that are elected to represent them.

About me

I have owned and operated a successful and growing business in Dunedin for more than 16 years, have been the national president for the baking industry of New Zealand for five years, and have a wide range of leadership and community organisations experience – be it as part of an internationally competitive team, local charities, or national initiatives.

My priorities
  1. Bring fiscal responsibility and financial sustainability back to the Dunedin City Council.
  2. Introduce sustainable financial, ecological and social initiatives.
  3. Reignite a positive relationship between the Dunedin City Council and the residents, businesses and community groups.
